Stefan Dowsing is a British artist who works with painting, print, video, installation, and digital art. His paintings have been shown widely in the UK and Europe. Among many shows over the years he has exhibited work at The Victoria & Albert Museum, the Tate Gallery and the Photographers' Gallery, London. His painting, photography, digital and silk-screen printmaking, and installation work exists in collections including the V&A.
Stefan’s work was shown in Towards a Bigger Picture at the Victoria & Albert Museum. He recently exhibited at the Mark Rothko Museum in Latvia. He has participated in the AVE Festival, Arnhem, Holland, showing at the Ocean Gallery, Arnhem, the Shaffy Theatre, Amsterdam and De Unie Theatre, Rotterdam. He was commissioned to make a new photographic installation for the Photographers’ Gallery as part of an exhibition entitled Machine Dreams. He has shown Polaroid photography at the Camden Art Centre, London. Stefan was invited to be artist in residence (for six months) at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum, Merseyside. Richard Demarco included Stefan's cibachrome prints in a mixed exhibition at the Smiths Gallery, London. He toured Poland showing installations and paintings at Gallery ON, Poznan, the Academy of Fine Art, Poznan, Slowakiego Gallery, Krakow, the Stodola Gallery, Warsaw, the Mandala Theatre, Krakow and the Eastern Gallery, Lodz. He created a three day performance event at the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool. His print Study For Koto, was shown at the Tate Gallery, Liverpool. His video work has been shown at the Culture Centrum, Utrecht. Stefan’s most recent exhibition was at the Blackheath Gallery, London.
Stefan has paintings and prints in collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, Mark Rothko Museum, Latvia, Richard Demarco Gallery, Edinburgh, the University Collection, Liverpool, Andreja Potokar collection, Angela Vevers collection and Amazon Studios. He is also represented in many other private collections. In addition to numerous interviews he has been published in Architektur & Wohnen, Magazine, Faces of Light, Catalogue, Mladina Magazine, Words and Pictures a boxed set distributed at the ICA, Whitechapel and Serpentine galleries, Mark Rothko 2014 Exhibition Catalogue and The State of Art Photographic & Digital #1 by Bare Hill Publishing.
